Former Chairman Shamima applies to reopen Evaly

Shamima Nasreen, the former Chairman of the Evaly, has applied to the ‘court-ordered board’ regarding the reopening of the discussed e-commerce company Evaly. The same petition also sought inclusion of Shamima and her mother and sister's husband in the board of directors. On Wednesday (August 10), the senior advocate of the Supreme Court, Ahsanul Karim, filed this application on behalf of Shamima Nasreen. Besides, another application has been filed in the High Court. In that application, the founder of Evaly Md. Russell and his wife Shamima Nasreen have been directed not to be harassed with unnecessary cases. Earlier, on October 18, 2021, the High Court formed a five-member board headed by former Appellate Judge HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik to manage Evaly. Other members of the board are former secretary of local government and rural development department Mohammad Rezaul Ahsan, Additional Secretary in OSD Mahbub Kabir Milan, Chartered Accountant Fakhruddin Ahmed, company law expert lawyer barrister Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz. The order also states what the function of the board is; The board will realize ins and outs of the company. It is also said that the way the company operates, the board meeting will be held first. After doing all that, if the board finds that the company is not viable, it will proceed for winding up. And if it can run, the company will run. Meanwhile, on February 9, Evaly's managing director's in-laws, brothers and sisters appeared before the court. They told the court that Evaly was working for rehabilitation. Those who receive money and goods from Evaly want to take action to return them. In this context, the High Court gave a direction, so that some of the shares held by the Managing Director and Chairman of Evaly can be transferred to their relatives. Pointing out that Evaly's sales and supply of goods have been stopped for the last three months, they also said that the company has no source of income due to the stop of supply of goods. But the cost remains the same. Evaly's website and app are down. No new updates have come on the Facebook page since October 18 last year. Later, in view of the verbal application of Russell and Shamima's relatives, on the same day (February 9), MD of Evaly. The High Court directed Russell and Chairman Shamima Nasreen to cooperate in transferring a number of shares in the name of his relatives. At the same time, the court directed the interim management board of Evaly to cooperate in this matter. Then on April 27, the former Managing Director (MD) of Evaly Md. Russell and Chairman Shamima Nasreen. The High Court ordered the submission of information about how much money paid to various individuals through cash and cheques. At the same time BRAC Bank, Bank Asia, Standard Chartered Bank, Madhumati Bank, South East Bank, Dhaka Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank, Midland Bank, City Bank, Community Bank, Managing Director and CO of bKash and Nagad have been asked to submit their information in the court.
